Gardens by the Bay
The Supertree Grove is free to wander at ground level and turns into a full light-and-sound show after dark. Pay for the OCBC Skyway to walk the bridge between the tallest trees, and set aside a separate few hours for the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome — the waterfall inside the Cloud Forest dome is worth the ticket alone.
Chinatown & Hawker Culture
Chinatown's shophouse streets are worth a slow wander in their own right, but the real draw is the food: Maxwell Food Centre and Chinatown Complex are packed with stalls that have held Michelin recognition for years, still serving plates for a few dollars. Go hungry and share plates across a few stalls rather than committing to just one.
An Evening Out
Rooftop bars over the CBD
Boat Quay and Clarke Quay have a run of rooftop bars looking straight down the river to the skyline.
A candlelight concert
Touring string ensembles play film and pop scores by candlelight in venues around the city.
Green Spaces & Southern Islands
Singapore is greener than its skyline suggests, and a short ferry ride puts you on a near-empty beach.
National Orchid Garden
Inside the UNESCO-listed Botanic Gardens, with thousands of orchid varieties on show.
St John's Island
A 30-minute ferry from the mainland gets you a quiet swimming beach with almost no crowds.
Kusu Island
A small pilgrimage island with a Chinese temple and Malay shrine, plus a calm lagoon beach.
Getting There
Singapore Airlines connects Changi to most major hubs directly, and the airport itself is a destination — Jewel's indoor waterfall and gardens sit right in the terminal, so a long layover here isn't a bad thing. Changi is consistently ranked among the world's best airports for a reason.
A Simple 3-Day Route
Marina Bay & the Merlion
Walk the bay from Merlion Park to Marina Bay Sands, then head up to Gardens by the Bay for sunset and the Supertree light show after dark.
Chinatown, hawkers & the river
Spend the day in Chinatown and Tiong Bahru, eat your way through a hawker centre, then catch the rooftop bars along the river at night.
Green Singapore
Morning at the Botanic Gardens and National Orchid Garden, afternoon on the MacRitchie TreeTop Walk, or swap it for a ferry out to St John's or Kusu Island.
